Week 8!

I am SO happy all the radio show work was due last week and all we had to do this week was assemble it!  This week has been a week from hell for me. I honestly didn’t even have time to think about my classes. Between work and in and out of the doctor office. But, I really want to thank my group member, Michael, for stepping up and assembling the show as a whole. He will be in one post it later today.

Overall I really enjoyed this task. It was a lot of fun. Now I kinda understand the time and effort it takes to be a radio show host. They do A LOT. From the planning of songs, to the commercial times, and more. Props to them! Again, audio is not my favorite element in this course I would rather be designing a cool poster or something, but this task really helped me understand why audio is so important for basically everything!

I really enjoyed looking at all of the classes project and hearing their shows! Commenting this week was super easy because everything was so great!

Below is the progress for week 2 and a DC!~~~~

Radio Show Week 2

On to week 9!

Radio Show Week 2

This week has been awful. Between work, school, and life. Honestly I haven’t had that much time to even think about the radio show so I am glad all the elements were due last week! As of now, we as a group have been communicating via email and Michael has been the one to set up the show itself (THANK YOU MICHAEL!). We have emailed all the proper elements of the show to him and then he will post the end result later today. I am really excited about our show ~ between our bumpers and commercials I think it is the perfect fit to the shows title. This was really a great project and I have enjoyed working in a group; it can be challenging at times because it’s an online class, but I am glad I learned how to do so!

Week 7

This week had its ups and downs. I really enjoyed starting our radio show! Personally the audio section is my least favorite so far. I hate the way I sound on a recorder so this week has not helped. But, I did learn how to do a lot more with sound cloud than I originally knew. I really liked the fact that our radio commercial counted as star on our assignment bank work! Because I barley found any of those assignments interesting, but that’s just me. Below is my work for this week:

Radio show contents

Here you can read up on what is in our radio show and my contribution so far!

Radio Show Progress

This blog post is about our radio show and how we are working together via online!

Make ‘Em Laugh

This was an assignment out of the audio bank. I really enjoyed reading all the Spanish jokes and telling this one!

Sound Effects

This was another assignment out of the bank. I love horror movies so this is right up my ally!

Radio Commercial

Here is my commercial!

Here are my DC’s!

I have also been reading and commenting on a lot for work this week. Everyone seems to really be enjoying the class! I know I am!

I hope everyone has a safe an wonderful spring break…..see y’all in a week!

Radio show contents

Okay here is all the stuff I have completed for our radio show !

First we have my bumper :

I really didn’t understand the concept of a bumper until I really listened to the radio one morning. I was super nervous about the bumper because it was the first audio recording I created on sound cloud. I think it turned out well. I didn’t add any back ground music or effects because I feel the purpose of them are to transition into a song or a commercial. So I didn’t think those extras were needed.

Next we have the commercial:

I found it very difficult to make this. Honestly I didn’t know where to start. The character I made the weeks prior was a barber, so I did a “barber shop” commercial. I tried to talk fast like people do when they are on the radio, but that didn’t turn out too well. So, I decided to just wing it and I do like the results. I think the commercial fits the theme of the whole class, and can tie in to our radio station name, too!

Finally we have the poster/logo:

you might be a cowboy

I am not good at making memes. I enjoy them more when other people make them. So this is what I came up with. It has our general idea of the radio station, but also states an odd, but true, way of cowboys. I have done some reading outside of class articles and I have found that most cowboys back in the day did not show or bathe regularly. They were always so busy that it was on the bottom of their list. So that is where “bath night” comes from. Which I find so gross, but interesting to the cowboy days….

Overall, these assignments for the radio show were a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to put everything together from my group members!

Radio Show Progress

Our Radio show is all about being a cowboy and what Cowboys do. So it is appropriately titled “you might be a cowboy if”…..

We have set up a google doc page where we can all see each other’s work and progress. This week we have all completed our bumpers, commercials, and logos.

Next week ( working week) we will start putting the show together as a whole. I am excited to see the final result of the show!

I am also happy that this weeks assignments helped set up for our radio show, it was a huge help!

Make ‘Em Laugh

Here is my joke in Spanish!

For those who don’t understand the language or my pronunciation :

– Doctor, doctor, el pelo se me está cayendo. ¿Me puede dar algo para conservarlo?

“Doctor, doctor, my hair is falling out on me. Can you give me something to keep it?”

– Sí, claro. Aquí tiene una caja de zapatos.

“Yes, of course. Here’s a shoe box.”

This assignment was super easy and fun! I really enjoyed looking at all of the jokes in Spanish on the internet. I picked this one because I could say most words.!

Radio Commercial

Hey Y’all!

Here is my commercial for our radio show! It honestly took me forever to figure out what I was going to do my commercial on. But, I used my character we made in the weeks prior so it’s all about “The Barber”, Gus Lee! He is ready for those mid-week specials so y’all can look good for your dates come Saturday night!

I used sound cloud for my audio recording. One thing that frustrated me when making this was that I couldn’t figure out how to add background music in after I already recorded my voice. So, I just improvised and played the music on my phone while I recorded the talking part of the commercial. Not exactly how I wanted it to go, but it will do. I am going to try to figure out how to add the music without using my phone. PLEASE if anyone knows how, please guide me!

Weekly Summary

This week was a lot of fun! Besides my bad week last week. I really enjoyed learning more about design and how it is EVERYWHERE. Here are a few assignments completed this week:

The Vignelli Canon

Customize A Pair of shoes ~

Sam Bass ~ Wanted

My favorite thing about this week were the assignments to complete in the assignment bank for design. There were so many options, but the interlocking of the two brand logos was my favorite! I enjoyed reading about design, it made me understand design more and take a longer look at everything around me. Overall a good week~

Now on to the next!

The Vignelli Canon

Design is all around us, I knew that before reading this, but this article really opened my mind to more designs! I love how design is everywhere. I also love home remodels….which has a lot of design elements. They way the home is laid out is a design…… the way the tile is laid, cabinet structure, staging a home, and pretty much everything going into a remodel is all about design!

Vignelli specifically talks about graphic design. Grids are a great way to utilize design ideas and to help improve the overall structure and growth of the design it self.

I really enjoyed reading this because it made me think more about what goes into a home remodel and I never get tired of thinking about beautiful old homes!
