This week has been awful. Between work, school, and life. Honestly I haven’t had that much time to even think about the radio show so I am glad all the elements were due last week! As of now, we as a group have been communicating via email and Michael has been the one to set up the show itself (THANK YOU MICHAEL!). We have emailed all the proper elements of the show to him and then he will post the end result later today. I am really excited about our show ~ between our bumpers and commercials I think it is the perfect fit to the shows title. This was really a great project and I have enjoyed working in a group; it can be challenging at times because it’s an online class, but I am glad I learned how to do so!
Okay here is all the stuff I have completed for our radio show !
First we have my bumper :
I really didn’t understand the concept of a bumper until I really listened to the radio one morning. I was super nervous about the bumper because it was the first audio recording I created on sound cloud. I think it turned out well. I didn’t add any back ground music or effects because I feel the purpose of them are to transition into a song or a commercial. So I didn’t think those extras were needed.
Next we have the commercial:
I found it very difficult to make this. Honestly I didn’t know where to start. The character I made the weeks prior was a barber, so I did a “barber shop” commercial. I tried to talk fast like people do when they are on the radio, but that didn’t turn out too well. So, I decided to just wing it and I do like the results. I think the commercial fits the theme of the whole class, and can tie in to our radio station name, too!
Finally we have the poster/logo:
I am not good at making memes. I enjoy them more when other people make them. So this is what I came up with. It has our general idea of the radio station, but also states an odd, but true, way of cowboys. I have done some reading outside of class articles and I have found that most cowboys back in the day did not show or bathe regularly. They were always so busy that it was on the bottom of their list. So that is where “bath night” comes from. Which I find so gross, but interesting to the cowboy days….
Overall, these assignments for the radio show were a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to put everything together from my group members!
Our Radio show is all about being a cowboy and what Cowboys do. So it is appropriately titled “you might be a cowboy if”…..
We have set up a google doc page where we can all see each other’s work and progress. This week we have all completed our bumpers, commercials, and logos.
Next week ( working week) we will start putting the show together as a whole. I am excited to see the final result of the show!
I am also happy that this weeks assignments helped set up for our radio show, it was a huge help!
Here is my joke in Spanish!
For those who don’t understand the language or my pronunciation :
– Doctor, doctor, el pelo se me está cayendo. ¿Me puede dar algo para conservarlo?
“Doctor, doctor, my hair is falling out on me. Can you give me something to keep it?”
– Sí, claro. Aquí tiene una caja de zapatos.
“Yes, of course. Here’s a shoe box.”
This assignment was super easy and fun! I really enjoyed looking at all of the jokes in Spanish on the internet. I picked this one because I could say most words.!
So, I really like horror movies. The sound effects make the scene, plot, and whole movie! I noticed there is not a lot of sound effects you can add without buying to make the clip scary. So I have uploaded my own sound effects for a horror clip! Hope ya’ll found this assignment as fun as I did!
Here is my commercial for our radio show! It honestly took me forever to figure out what I was going to do my commercial on. But, I used my character we made in the weeks prior so it’s all about “The Barber”, Gus Lee! He is ready for those mid-week specials so y’all can look good for your dates come Saturday night!
I used sound cloud for my audio recording. One thing that frustrated me when making this was that I couldn’t figure out how to add background music in after I already recorded my voice. So, I just improvised and played the music on my phone while I recorded the talking part of the commercial. Not exactly how I wanted it to go, but it will do. I am going to try to figure out how to add the music without using my phone. PLEASE if anyone knows how, please guide me!
Design is all around us, I knew that before reading this, but this article really opened my mind to more designs! I love how design is everywhere. I also love home remodels….which has a lot of design elements. They way the home is laid out is a design…… the way the tile is laid, cabinet structure, staging a home, and pretty much everything going into a remodel is all about design!
Vignelli specifically talks about graphic design. Grids are a great way to utilize design ideas and to help improve the overall structure and growth of the design it self.
I really enjoyed reading this because it made me think more about what goes into a home remodel and I never get tired of thinking about beautiful old homes!
When I think of a western cowboys, guns, black and white, horses, and scary music comes to my mind. Typically people have their mind set when they think about westerns, I know I did…..But, after reading Vignellis’ article westerns typically use the colors of red, blue, and yellows. The primary colors…..if black and white isn’t being used. I saw a lot of red and yellow when looking at the art work, but I still noticed a lot of black and white movies, which is normal for the western theme.
I really didn’t think about the typography of the art work or even phrases in movies, until after reading the article. The typography is simple, bold and thick lines. Most f them have some type of swirl or “look” to them that you can clearly tell it’s a western theme.
I think Vignelli is correct that most western designs follow the same structure. Clearly you can tell it’s a western by the colors, or typography. Which I think these two items alone classify westerns. When you see a black and white movie and a bold, thick, and black title; 9 times out of 10 a western is about to start playing. All of the designs serve as a purpose to the movie or piece of art it is made for.
So my favorite purse brand is Louis Vuitton. Their designs are timeless on all of their accessories. Their major competitor is Chanel, of course another very high end brand. For this assignment I have found a representation for what Chanels’ logo would look like it LV was monogrammed in it. This image represents, to me that Louis still trumps Chanel because of the running marks coming off of the logo. Two very successful brands placed together isn’t always a bad thing, but competition wise LV still trumps the fashion world with their timeless items….
For this assignment I decided to customize a pair of Nike Free Runs 4.0. I picked this shoe because I LOVE them. I have 3 pairs already, but would love to have these I created. First of all I love gray, it goes with anything and everything. I also love the color mint. So putting the 2 together makes the perfect customization shoe for me! Maybe one day I’ll actually order them….
